Chase

Sunday, January 25th, 2009

Mysterious floating dog head? Not at all -  it’s Chase.  He is wearing an e-collar now because he just had surgery to fix his hip.  It seemed he was hit by a car at some point in his life and no one ever bothered to take him to the vet and get him fixed up - poor guy! He is sleeping on a plush bed to pad his healing hip.  But he is looking for a permanent home where he can have a family who loves him and will keep him on a leash so he won’t get hit by a car again.  Chase is very gently, sweet, and affectionate.  He is a little timid and seems to have had a rough time in life so far.  If you can give Chase the sweet life he deserves, fill out an application online.

“He showed off, splashin’ around” (Prescott)

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

Prescott is a happy, wonderful dog.   He walks well on a leash.  He seems happiest around people. He needs a home with someone who can be patient with him - he can be slightly skiddish.   We walked by kennels and yards with dog after dog barking at him and growling and he did not reply once.  Prescott is in a foster home now where he is meeting lots of new people - everyone who meets him comments on how calm he is!

So, is it all sugar and spice with this sweet boy?  No, he has one downside - he likes to splash his water all over!  He literally puts his paws in his water bowl and splashes the water everywhere.  I think he might need a home with a swimming pool - like many labs, he seems keen to play in the water. I thought maybe he’s just showing off - for the female dogs. Maybe he’s just trying to impress them!  Prescott is ready for a home now - so come meet him at Petsmart!

Sleepy Puppy

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

On 12/23, we snatched a yellow lab and her puppies from Lake County Animal Control. They were scheduled to be euthanized on that day. Momma is young herself (1-2 years old). She gave birth to the pups at animal control, so the staff couldn’t bear for them to be euthanized so they asked HH to help them. Onne of the workers took them home to foster them until they are weaned. Momma has been named Carole (Christmas Carol) after the foster dad’s mom. There were seven pups originally but sadly, 3 of them died on Christmas eve. There are two white pups and two brown pups left. They and Momma seem to have survived kennel cough and are doing well. The pups are now about 3 weeks old and have opened their eyes. So, about another month or so and they will be ready for adoption! Here’s a picture of one pup who fell asleep in mom’s food bowl. How cute!
