Elijah - staring at the guinea pigs at Petsmart.  He could not take his eyes off these little guys!

Sienna

This girls is very calm, sweet, and seems to have a gentle disposition.  She has recently had puppies - as evidenced by her slightly sagging belly.  But with plenty of exercise and a healthy diet, her loose tummy will return to normal (as we have seen with other dogs in the past).  Sienna is medium sized - probably 60 - 65 lbs.  She walks very well on a leash and does not pull at all.  In fact, she seems to eager to be by your side, she hardly moves more than a foot away from you.  She does not jump on you or slobber on your face, she seems content just to have your attention.  She is seriously a terrific dog and is already trained.  If you are looking for a sweet girl and you don’t have the patience for training a puppy, Sienna is wonderful.  You’ll be able to meet her at Petsmart in a few weeks.

Duke - Golden Boy

Wednesday, July 1st, 2009

Duke is a very handsome golden retriever, who seems to have had a rough time in life.  I met him for the first time tonight and he is a bit skiddish.  He rarely makes eye contact, hangs his head kind of low, and is easily startled.  He was upset by the loud crackling thunder - though the lower booming noises did not seem to bother him.  When I picked up the umbrella to take him for a walk, he tried to run and hide (as if he was expecting to be hit or beat) - broke my heart!  He seems to be crate-trained.  He didn’t wag his tail much at all.  At the end of the night, I had to crawl in his crate in order to coax him in.  He finally, skeptically joined me - still refusing eye contact.  But he seemed pleased when I reached under and rubbed his chest and belly. If you have the patience to be gentle and loving, this boy needs you to help him trust again and learn that there are good people in the world.
