Cutie Carol

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

Carol came to Houndhaven with her puppies. Before she arrived, she had lost several puppies who were sick.  Carol, like any good mom, was very protective of her boys.  So, she has been learning to let go as her boys are growing up.  She also had to learn to get along with other dogs – she is doing well and plays with lots of other dogs at Houndhaven.  She has done very well and has made lots of canine friends!  Carol also loves plush toys - as you can see here in the pictures.  She has lots of energy and loves to run and jump – in fact, she is famous for jumping up and over the dog igloos which are about 3 ½ feet high!  You can come meet Carol at Petsmart – she won’t be doing her famous tricks there, but she’ll be happy to meet you nonetheless!

Sawyer

This little pup is probably one of the cutest guys I have ever seen.  He loves to be with people and wants nothing more than attention.  Here’s a picture while he was getting a bath.

Abby

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Abby was being camera shy when I tried to get her picture.  But I was able to snap this one - she tracked down a kernel of food that had fallen under a piece of furniture and she was trying to fit her snout underneath to reach it.  Abby is sweet and a little shy sometimes. She knows some commands and is generally well-behaved.  She is playful and likes soft toys.

Yogi - a pup at heart

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

Yogi looks like a big, goofball, but he is just a pup at heart.  He LOVES plush toys like a puppy would.  He happily carries them around in his mouth and at times will even try to fit two in his mouth. He walks well on a leash -although, it was hard to get the leash over his head because he refused to let go of his plush toy. Yogi is sweet and big. When he is excited, his entire body wags fiercely to show you how happy he is to see you. He needs to lose some weight, so he needs a home where he will get nice long walks and plenty of exercise.

Small Cybil

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Wow - I met this darling girl for the first time this weekend.  She’s much tinier than her profile picture led me to believe.  So, I decided to pose with her so you could see what a little tiny thing she truly is - she is smaller than the average housecat!  (well, maybe my cats are chubby…)  Cybil has lots of energy - especially for a girl who was so sick!  She wants nothing more than human attention and affection.  You can’t help but smile when you see her - and she has the cutest little belly.  She will sit on your lab and is still a pup, so she likes to chew your fingers!

Duke - learning to trust

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Duke is doing very well at Houndhaven.  He is learning to trust people again and has made many canine friends.  He is still a little skiddish and rarely makes eye contact with you.  He will bring you toys and rolls over for a belly rub (see the picture above).  He is starting to seek out human contact which is a great sign for a dog who has had a tough time in life.  Duke is very sweet and laid back - he never jumps on you and doesn’t bark and whine much.  He’s an all-around fantastic find!

Sadie (aka Sable)- playful and high energy

Monday, August 10th, 2009

Sable loves playing fetch and she is very good at this game.  If you want a playful dog who is house trained but still as fun and sweet as a puppy, Sable is your girl!
