Last weekend, I was working at the shelter and I came across another volunteer who was walking around without shoes. I inquired as to why. His response, “Faith chewed my flip flop when we were walking and now it won’t stay on my foot.” I couldn’t help but laugh.
So, Faith is a chewer. You just need to know that if you are thinking about adopting her. She’s adorable and she has teeth and likes to use them : )

Deuce immediately stole my heart because he looks like my dog! He is gorgeous with a beautiful red coat. He came to us malnourished, so his coat is lackluster right now, but give him a few weeks and a healthy diet and he will be shiny as new! Deuce is sweet and a little shy. He walks well on a leash and sits on command. He is on the skinny side now, but will probably be about 50lbs when he gains weight. he is an adult, so he won’t get any larger - what a great size! He seems to want nothing more than to be around other dogs - especially Faith and Hope. One of the volunteers was calling him “Ladies Man”. And that he is - he is so handsome, I imagine every female dog at HH must have a crush on him!

Buster is a big boy - at 95 lbs, he is our largest resident right now. He gets very excited about going for walks, but he does not pull on the leash, so it’s easy to walk him. He drools when he is excited, which is often. He does not like going back into his kennel so our volunteers are getting a workout when they have to lift this giant into his kennel (it’s about 2 feet off the floor). Buster is sweet and can’t wait for a new home because all he wants is to be around people.

Beau is the French word for handsome. And that is the perfect word to describe this dog. He is gorgeous. He’s a medium sized chocolate lab with a gorgeous shiny coat. He’s more like a milk chocolate color than dark chocolate. He is happy, walks well on a leash, is house broken, and loves attention. He knows how to sit but would prefer to go for a long walk.

Hope is sweet and loving. She will steal your heart! It’s something about the way her whole body wags when she walks - it’s just adorable! She is funny and well-behaved, walks well on a leash, and is house-broken. She is a perfect size - about 35 lbs I think.

F = Friendly
A = Adorable
I = Ideal-sized
T = Timid (she can be a little shy)
H = Happy
Faith is a sweet girl. She is smallish - I think about 35-40 lbs so she is a great size. She walks well on a leash and seems to be fully house-trained. She is quiet and patiently waits to be walked while the other dogs are jumping and barking for attention. She’s absolutely a lovely girl and will be a wonderful companion.

Bradford is slowly gaining weight - his hip bones are not quite as visible. And his coat is starting to get its luster back. He is having a tough time medically - he hasn’t been feeling well. Poor sweet guy.

Sweet
Duke is enjoying life as a dog - his heart condition has improved with medication, so he is now allowed to run and play in the fenced yards with other dogs. This shy dog has proved to be the dominant one amongst his playmates - probably because they are all younger pups who look up to him (literally). He’s had to take on a leading role in this pack. Duke has never been formally trained, so he could use some help because he likes to chew and jump. But he does know how to SIT and he is house broken (no accidents at the shelter.) Duke is still a little leary of using his doggie door at the shelter and isn’t easily coaxed. He eats well, has lots of energy, and is still sometimes on the shy side. You can meet Duke when we bring him to Petsmart on the weekend.

Bradford had been living under a porch, so you can see here that he is skin and bones! You can see and feel every rib in his body and his hip bones stick out. He doesn’t seem to know it - he has a happy disposition. (Although, he was not happy about me taking pictures!). We are feeding him hearty servings to try and help him gain weight and be a healthy dog again. He has lots of energy and hates to get his ear medicines. Then again, who LIKES to get medicine put in their ears? Bradford seems to be housebroken and walks well on a leash - so he probably had owners at some point in his life. Who knows if was dumped, left behind, or ran away. But somehow, we ended up with this sweet boy and we couldn’t be happier!
