Adoptable Dogs

DAKOTA RALEIGH

Dakota Raleigh was originally adopted from Houndhaven when she was a small six month old pup. She has been a loyal family dog for 10 years, but sadly, her family is unable to keep her any longer and Dakota is looking for another family to love. Dakota is a gentle 10 year old yellow lab mix (in our senior category), and she’s spayed and weighs 65 lbs. The rewards of adopting Dakota are many: You get a dog that is housebroken, knows basic commands, is active but knows how to behave in a home, is good with adults, children, other dogs and cats (she was raised with three cats). Dakota loves doggie cookies and ice. There’s no downside to adopting her. If you want to be the lucky family that receives Dakota’s devotion and love, review our policies and submit an application.

BELLA DONNA

In Italian, Bella Donna means “beautiful lady” and it’s the perfect description of Bella. She is polite, calm and even-tempered, and she walks very nicely on a leash. Like Gilly, another of our newer residents, Bella’s previous family surrendered her to animal control because they were moving and couldn’t take her with them. They said she’s good with men, women and children. Bella is a female black lab mix. She weighs just under 53 lbs. and is estimated to be four years old (our young adult category). Bella is heartworm negative and we will have her spayed.

GILLY

Gilly is an adorable male yellow lab mix with the cutest wrinkly face. (It’s a happy face that makes you smile.) Unfortunately for Gilly, he lost his family through no fault of his. His previous owners turned him in to animal control because they were moving and couldn’t take Gilly with them. He’s approximately 4 years old and is in our young adult category. He’s neutered and weighs 66 lbs. His previous owners said he’s housebroken and friendly with adults, children and other dogs. If you can make a long term commitment to Gilly so he’ll never have to lose another home, review our policies and submit an application.

BIG MIKE

Big Mike isn’t really all that big weight-wise–he weighs 62 lbs., but the name just seems to fit him anyway. He is kind of thin right now and could stand to gain a few pounds. He was a stray in FL’s Panhandle. Big Mike is a gorgeous male yellow lab with a coat that is a beautiful fox red color. Big Mike is estimated to be two years old and is in our young adult category. He has been examined by our vet and brought up to date on vaccines. He’s microchipped and on monthly heartworm prevention. Review our policies and submit a completed application if you have a place in your heart and home for Big Mike.

COLLINS

Collins is friendly and loving. She greets us at the shelter with wiggles, wags and kisses before we can even open her kennel door. She is in our young adult category (estimate: 2 years old) and is a female yellow lab mix. Collins was a stray in northwest FL where she was picked up by animal control. This little girl had fleas and must have been uncomfortable, but not any longer as we’ve taken care of that. Collins weighs just under 56 lbs. and has now been microchipped and brought up to date on vaccines. This sweetheart needs a family of her own as she has so much love to give.

MASON DIXON

Mason Dixon is a lovable male black lab mix. Animal control found him as a stray and his owner wasn’t located. Mason is approximately 3 years old and is in our young adult category. He weighs 55 lbs. and is already neutered. Mason is deserving of a forever family that will love him and take great care of him. If you can provide that for Mason, review our policies and complete an application.

JULIE

Super sweet Julie is a female black lab. She was a stray found by animal control in northwest Florida so we don’t have any history on her, but she has been a well behaved, precious girl ever since her arrival at Houndhaven. Julie weighs 73 lbs. She is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. She is heartworm positive and will receive treatment for that while she’s here at Houndhaven. The estimate of Julie’s age is 3-4 years old and she is in our young adult category. She’s already spayed. Julie would love to be your loyal friend and companion.

BUDDY BOY

Buddy Boy is a very brave boy. He was attacked by another dog before coming to Houndhaven. He has a chewed up left ear which is still healing and multiple scars on his face. Despite what he’s been through, he’s moving on and is a very loving guy. He soaks up all the attention we can give him. Buddy is about 18 months old and is in our young adult category. He’s a male black lab mix and is slightly underweight at 46 lbs. Buddy is heartworm positive and we have him scheduled to start treatment soon. He’s a real lovebug. We’re looking for a home where he’ll be the center of attention and pampered for the rest of his life.

PIPER PEPPER

Piper Pepper has had several owners through no fault of her own (for example, one owner was traveling all the time so she gave Piper up). Piper is a 6 year old female black lab mix in our adult category. She’s on the smaller side, weighing 48 lbs. Piper has lived with cats in the past. She’s a sweetheart, already spayed and current on vaccines. All Piper is asking for is a stable home with a family that will love her forever.

CADE

Just like several of our recently adopted dogs, Cade originally came from Colombia South America and was brought to the United States to be a working dog. He prefers cuddles and affection over working, so he is at Houndhaven to find a family and home to give him just that. Cade is a 23 month old male yellow lab in our young adult category. He weighs 79 lbs. and is up to date on vaccines, on monthly heartworm prevention and is microchipped. If you can give Cade the happiness he’s looking for, please review our policies and submit a completed application.

Just like several of our recently adopted dogs, Boris originally came from Colombia South America and was brought to the United States to be a working dog. He prefers cuddles and affection over working, so he is at Houndhaven to find a family and home to give him just that. Boris is 26 months old and is a male yellow lab in our young adult category. He weighs 63 lbs. He is microchipped, up to date on vaccines and on monthly heartworm prevention. If you can give Boris the loving home he wants and deserves, please submit a completed application.

MOBY

If you ask Moby, he’ll tell you that any time is a great time for a belly rub! Besides loving them, he’s very friendly and loves the people that give him the belly rubs, too. He is an incredibly sweet male chocolate lab mix, estimated to be two years old and is in our young adult category. He walks very nicely on a lead. Moby weighs about 55 lbs. and was found by animal control as a stray in the Panhandle area of Florida. Moby is recovering from a case of kennel cough and will be neutered soon. We have brought him current on all his vaccines and started him on monthly heartworm prevention. To adopt our buddy Moby, review our policies and submit a completed application.

TOFFEE

Toffee is a real love-bug. She wiggles her whole body, gives wonderful kisses and is always super sweet (it makes sense that she should be named after a candy). Toffee has yet to meet a stranger. We estimate she is approximately a year and a half old and is in our young adult category. She weighs 56 lbs. and is a female chocolate lab mix. She was a stray in northwest Florida, so we don’t have any background info on Toffee. She walks nicely on a leash. She’s a gentle and polite girl. Houndhaven has had her spayed and brought her up to date on vaccines. If you like a dog that will cuddle with you, Toffee is your girl.  She has requested a home with no cats.

SAWYER

The best way to describe Sawyer is he’s a big huggable teddy bear of a dog. He’s a male yellow lab that was a stray in west central Florida where he was picked up by animal services. It’s obvious that he had been having a hard time finding food out on the streets as he’s very thin. He weighs about 76 lbs. Sawyer is in our adult category and it’s estimated he’s approximately six years old. Sawyer is active and acts like a younger dog. He loves his Nylabone and does a cute little prance when he’s holding it in his mouth. Sawyer is neutered and appears to be housebroken. He loves toys and children.  He is heartworm positive and is currently going through treatment. His treatment will be completed by mid-May and he will be ready to go to his own home at that time. With Sawyer, you get the best of both worlds—a dog that will chill with you on the sofa and a dog that loves to play and go for walks.

 TEDDY

Our buddy Teddy was picked up as a stray by animal control in northern Florida and was in bad shape. He was extremely thin and covered in sores. We think at some point he may have been kept in a crate or box that was too small for him, causing the sores. Teddy has been receiving love and care and is looking much better. He’s in our young adult category as the estimate of his age is about two years old. Teddy weighs 49 lbs., is heartworm negative, and already neutered. He’s a male lab/hound mix.  He’s a friendly guy, loves affection and is even-tempered. He’s ready and waiting for his forever family to find him.
