Adoptable Dogs

SELMA

Selma stopped at Houndhaven and spent a few days here on her journey to Great Dawg Rescue where she has gone to find her forever family. While she was with us we saw what a sweetheart she is. She is a black lab–calm and loving and walks beautifully on a leash. She is 10 years young, spayed and weighs 67 lbs. Selma was turned in to animal control by her owner who was moving. If you are looking for a loyal companion, Selma is your girl.

To find out information on how to adopt Selma, please go to www.GreatDawgRescue.org.

CHANCELLOR

Chancellor was a stray before he came to Houndhaven. He is a two year old chocolate lab mix. Chance is very underweight—he weighs only 61 lbs when he should weigh 10-12 lbs. more than that to be at a healthy weight. We will have him neutered and have already brought him current on all vaccines and tests. To adopt Chance, please review our policies and complete an application.

RITTER

Ritter is a spunky male golden retriever mix. He is only about one year old and still has lots of puppy energy to burn. He will be a great match for an active family that can include him in a lot of their activities. Animal control picked him up as a stray and before that it seems like no one took the time to work with Ritter on commands, etc. But he’s a smart boy and will learn quickly. He doesn’t mess in his kennel. Ritter will have to be neutered and go through heartworm treatment as he came to us heartworm positive. Ritter is not a very big guy. He weighs approximately 43 lbs. Ritter will be ready to go to a new home around the end of May, but he’s ready now for someone to begin the process to adopt him by submitting an application.

CONTESSA

Contessa is such a great combination—she is a dog that is playful and energetic, yet also loves to lay quietly for belly rubs and just be close to you when it’s time to cuddle. Contessa is a black lab/corgi blend. She’s a compact little girl with the cutest short corgi legs. She is approximately 1-2 years old, weighs just under 33 lbs. and is already spayed. Contessa was a stray before coming to Houndhaven. Tessa is current on vaccines, microchipped, super sweet and can’t wait to find a family to adopt her.

IVAN

Before he was turned in to animal control, Ivan spent five years—just about his entire life—living in a garage without medical care. As a result, an easily fixable condition went untreated (his eyelids curl in causing his lashes to rub on his corneas) and his eyes have been irritated and runny all this time. We’re taking him for corrective surgery soon so he will finally get some relief. And he will also be neutered. Ivan is a resilient, wonderful six year old yellow lab mix. The discharge from his eyes discolored the surrounding fur, but that is reversible and he will be back to yellow soon! Ivan doesn’t mess in his kennel, is well behaved, and walks great on a leash. He’s heartworm negative and weighs 62 lbs. If you can give Ivan a life full of love as a member of your family, please review our policies and complete an application.

LACY

Lacy is a precious black lab. She was turned in by her owner to animal control with other dogs. We’re not sure what she’s been through in her life up to that point, but we’re trying to show Lacy we’re not going to harm her and that it’s ok to enjoy life. Every day she is learning to trust us more and more. Lacy is two years old and weighs 49 lbs. She’s a beautiful dog. She is heartworm positive and we will get that treated. Lacy has started her search for a family of her own, and she will actually be ready to go to that new home in late May after she has completed heartworm treatment and has been spayed. If you can give Lacy a good, loving home, please submit a completed application.

HARRY & DAVID

These two handsome boys are Harry and David, both golden retrievers. Harry is a fox red color and David is blonde. These boys are very bonded and like to know that the other one is nearby, so we’re looking for a family that will adopt Harry and David together. They are calm and walk excellently on a leash. Harry is approximately five years old and 76 lbs. He is heartworm positive and has started his treatment for that. David is about four years old and 74 lbs. He has had surgery on his eyelids (they were turned in and caused his eyelashes to rub against his cornea).  (You can see the stitches in the photo with the blue background.  This photo which was taken a few days after his surgery.  The other two photos show handsome David without stitches.)  Both dogs have been neutered. They need a family with a big heart and room enough for both of these loveable, scrumptious guys.

FAWN

Fawn is a chocolate lab mix with an adorable wrinkly face and soulful eyes. She has a few white accents (like her chest and the toes of her front paws) and just a little sugar on that cute face. While at first she may seem a little sad, you soon find out that she’s a happy, lively girl. Fawn is about six years old and was an owner turn-in to animal control. She has mange which we’re working on resolving so she won’t feel itchy any longer. Fawn weighs approximately 60 lbs. and is microchipped and has been brought up to date on vaccines. Once her mange clears up, we’ll have her spayed. If you can give sweet Fawn a happy home, please review our policies and complete an application.

MOLLY

Lovable Molly has not had a good life so far. She was confiscated by animal control in a cruelty case. She has scarring on her face and feet that hint at what she’s been through. But Molly also has a big, forgiving heart and is so grateful to be given affection and is always willing to cuddle and give out kisses. Molly is an approximately six year old yellow lab and weighs about 70 lbs. Beautiful Molly deserves nothing but the best for the rest of her life.  She needs to have surgery to remove a couple of troublesome lumps and then will be ready for adoption, so fill out an application soon!

MAX

Max is a calm, easygoing guy. He’s an 8-9 year old border collie mix. Max weighs about 35 lbs. and walks really well on a leash. Through no fault of his own, he was given up by his previous owner. Max is affectionate and friendly. He is microchipped and current on vaccines. Max is heartworm positive and treatment will start soon.  He will also be neutered and should be ready for a home by May.

BRANNIGAN

Brannigan is approximately four years old and loves life. He’s a handsome black lab mix that loves everyone and soaks up the affection the volunteers show him. And even though Brannigan weighs 92 lbs., he really thinks he is the size of his head and will try to squeeze his entire body into your lap! He is Carrigan’s son. Their owner died and they were turned in to animal control. Like Carri, he is heartworm positive, but he will undergo treatment for that while he’s with us. The treatment starts in two weeks. He is scheduled to be neutered soon and will be ready for adoption probably by the end of March. He is now microchipped and up to date on vaccines as well. If you have a place in your heart and family for Brannigan, please submit a completed application.

LAWSON

lawson

Precious chocolate lab mix Lawson arrived at Houndhaven with a case of demodex mange that caused him to lose all the hair from his face, chest and legs. We started treating him for this right away and his hair is starting to grow back. He’s a cutie just the way he is though and he’s always ready to cuddle. Lawson is 9 months old and was originally a stray picked up by animal control. He currently weighs 50 lbs. If you are ready to give this boy the tender loving care he should have been getting all along, please submit a completed application.

got an email about Scully…the Golden Retriever #5683034. He isn’t in here and I was curious if he already has been adopted. I am looking for a pure bred Golden….preferably blond…would take a male but already have 2 and a female might be a better fit.
