Adoptable Dogs

GUNTHER

Gunther was picked up by animal services. He and a beagle were found together. The beagle was reclaimed but Gunther wasn’t. He’s a five year old male black lab, already neutered, and heartworm negative. He is a very good looking guy with a coat that shines and bright eyes. Gunther weighs 72 lbs. and is now up to date on vaccines and has been started on monthly heartworm prevention. If you are looking for a devoted companion, submit a completed application to adopt handsome Gunther.

TRAMP

Tramp weighs 69 lbs. and is a male black lab. He’s five years old and was a stray picked up by animal control. He’s got a handsome sugar face which makes him quite dignified looking. He’s a good boy, is loving, and doesn’t mess in his kennel at the shelter. He should have a home of his own and someone to take care of him. If you can do that for him, review our policies and submit a completed application.

SHAKER

Shaker is a 10-12 month old male black lab mix. When he came to Houndhaven, this little guy was so scared he couldn’t stop shaking—which is how he got his name—was afraid to leave his kennel to go for walks and was too upset to eat. He is slowly relaxing and getting braver each day. Despite being so frightened, there is not a mean bone in his body and his sweetness always shines through. He came from an animal control in the northwest part of Florida. Shaker weighs 51 lbs., will be neutered soon, and is heartworm negative. A home of his own will allow Shaker’s confidence to continue to grow.

SALLY SUE

Walking up to Sally Sue’s kennel, you’re greeted by a wiggly Sally looking up at you with a hopeful look on her sweet face and you just have to stop and give her a little love–which is all she wants. Sally is a one year old black lab mix. She was a stray found by animal control in northern Florida. Sally is not very big. She weighs 50 lbs. Review our policies and complete an application to adopt Sally. You’ll be rewarded with lots of love.

FOZZIE BEAR

Fozzie Bear is a sweet, sweet guy that wiggles his whole body in anticipation of getting cuddles and attention from the volunteers. Fozzie is a two year old male flat-coated retriever mix. He has a black and white feathered coat. Fozzie weighs approximately 51 lbs., and Houndhaven will have him neutered. He was a stray before he arrived at our shelter. Fozzie would love to be a member of a family and have his very own humans to love.

MISS MOLLY

Miss Molly is about 6-7 years old and was found living under a decrepit barn in Mississippi along with her litter of puppies. All the puppies found homes except for Norman, and of course, Molly is still looking for a home, too. She is a sweet and loveable black lab and is good with people. She’s had a rough life up to this point (she’s thin, heartworm positive, and has had multiple litters), but we’re going to change that from now on. Molly currently weighs 59 lbs. and we will have her treated for heartworms and spayed. If you have a place in your heart and family for Molly, you can start the process to adopt her by completing an application.

DOC

Doc is a five year old lab mix who came to us from animal control. His legs are shorter than a lab’s would be, and his tail has a cute white tip, but his personality seems all lab. Sweet, loving and affectionate, and good with other dogs also.  Doc likes to chase squirrels and lizards, but we don’t really know any dog that doesn’t.  He will dart out an open door or push his way through a pool cage screen to chase them if nothing more interesting is going on, but again, this is something we warn all of our adopting families about because squirrels and lizards can be very tantalizing!  In the house and away from the taunts of those critters, Doc is a perfect gentleman.  If Doc sounds like your kind of guy, review our adoption policies.

KENNEDY

Kennedy is now five months old.  He’s a black lab mix pup who came to us from animal control.  He and his two sisters, Kelsey and Kiely, were found as strays with no sign of mama.  They took turns coming down with parvovirus, but all three thankfully recovered.  Kennedy’s sisters have both been adopted, but he is still waiting for a family to love.  He is funny, very sweet and very smart.  He is learning some commands and picking them up quickly.  If you would like to adopt this cutie patootie, review our adoption policies.

 SELMA

Selma stopped at Houndhaven and spent a few days here on her journey to Great Dawg Rescue where she has gone to find her forever family. While she was with us we saw what a sweetheart she is. She is a black lab–calm and loving and walks beautifully on a leash. She is 10 years young, spayed and weighs 67 lbs. Selma was turned in to animal control by her owner who was moving. If you are looking for a loyal companion, Selma is your girl.

To find out information on how to adopt Selma, please go to www.GreatDawgRescue.org.
