Adoptable Dogs

Please note:

If a dog was brought to the shelter as a stray, we adhere to the following policy regarding returning the dog to a party claiming to own it.  We have the following policy regarding stray intakes:

The owner of such dog may reclaim by:
1. emailing houndhaveninc@aol.com within 5 days of the date the dog came to Houndhaven,
2. identifying the dog accurately,
3. providing proof of ownership,
4. promptly arranging a mutually agreed upon time to pickup the dog,
5. coming to pick up the dog at the scheduled time, and
6. signing a form acknowledging ownership and indemnifying Houndhaven in the event another party claims ownership.

WINCHESTER

Winchester is one of our most recent arrivals. He is a wonderful, mellow guy. He doesn’t pull on his leash, loves belly rubs and is just a sweetheart. He even loved his initial bath and nail clipping at Houndhaven. Winchester was a stray in northwest Florida and was picked up by animal control there. He weighs just under 57 lbs. He is in our adult category (approximately 6-7 years old) and is a black lab mix. Winchester will make someone the best snuggle buddy ever!

SADIE GREY

Sadie Grey is a beauty. She is a black lab/greyhound mix. She has the look of a Labrador blended with the streamlined gracefulness of a greyhound. She’s an adult (2 ½ years old) and weighs just under 65 lbs. She originally came from TX. Her previous owners, due to their work schedule, didn’t have time for her and felt that wasn’t fair to Sadie. They’ve told us Sadie loves children, adults, and other dogs. She’s also been around horses, but chases cats and birds. They described Sadie as kind and an all-round great girl. It will be wonderful for Sadie when she finds a family with time to devote to her.

KODIAK

Kodiak is a lively young pup and it’s fun to see him have the best time playing and tossing his Nylabone in the air for himself at the shelter. It would be great if he had a family to call his own that will join in on the fun with him so he wouldn’t have to play alone anymore. Kodiak is a male black lab mix and his age is estimated to be 8 months old. He was adopted from animal control as a very young little guy and returned. Often people are not prepared for the commitment and time it takes to train a growing puppy. Kodiak weighs 49 lbs. right now and has already been neutered. If you can give him a loving home (and he wouldn’t turn down a few more toys), review our policies and submit an application.

MITCHELL

Mitchell is a male black lab mix. He’s a very handsome guy, and we are estimating his age to be approximately one year old (in our young adult category of dogs 1-4 years old). Mitchell and another dog were turned in to a central Florida humane society before he came to Houndhaven for help in finding a home. Mitchell is affectionate and loving, weighs 67 lbs. and tested negative for heartworms. He’s a strong boy and would make an active person a great workout buddy. We have brought him up to date on vaccines and neutered and he is ready to go!

LEO

Precious Leo is an adorable, slightly shy male black lab mix puppy. He will sweetly make his way over to you, put his paw gently in your lap and soak up all the cuddles and love you can give. Leo is approximately six months old and weighs just under 40 lbs. right now. He came to us with areas of missing hair, but he now has a full healthy coat and is no longer the timid guy he once was.  If you would like to give this very lovable guy a home, review our policies and submit an application.

DORA

Dora is a very cute female lab/pointer blend. She looks like a compact lab but the socks on her paws and patch on her chest have the white and black markings of a pointer. Dora is an adult dog, estimated to be approximately four years old. She weighs about 50 lbs. Dora was a stray and came to us from northwest Florida. She would love a family that can give her lots of love and include her in their family activities.

DEACON

Deacon and his sister Piper Brown lost their happy home when they cornered a neighbor’s chicken. The chicken was unharmed, but the neighbor’s feathers were ruffled 🙂 so they came to live at HH.  Piper Brown has recently found her forever home, but Deacon is still patiently waiting for his.  He is about 50 pounds and is in our adult category at 6 years old.  If Deacon looks like your kind of guy, let us know!

PIPER PEPPER

Piper Pepper has had several owners through no fault of her own (for example, one owner wanted to travel so she gave Piper up). Piper is a 6 year old female black lab mix in our adult category. She’s on the smaller side, weighing 48 lbs. Piper has lived with cats in the past. She’s a sweetheart, already spayed and current on vaccines. All Piper is asking for is a stable home with a family that will love her forever.  Is that too much to ask???
